In celebration of Colorado Engineers Week, ACEC Colorado annually plans events for you and your colleagues. Click here to read the 2025 proclamation from Gov. Jared Polis in recognition of the week. ACEC Colorado’s social media posts about the following activities were tagged #COeweek25, and periennial series of videos featuring Colorado consulting engineers talking about their careers in the industry is always a great reminder about why these week is worthy of celebration. To conclude the 2025 celebration, Denver Business Journal published a four-page insert on Feb. 21, featuring an article on the impact of consulting engineers on the built and natural environments, as well as the Colorado economy. It also features winners of the 2025 Engineering Excellence Awards.

ACEC Colorado Foundation annually partners with Colorado SOCIT Chapter of NSBE for a workshop tailored to 3rd- through 12th-grade students co-celebrating Black History Month and Colorado Engineers Week. Each year up to 25 students will learn about the impact engineering in the built environment has on their everyday lives. ACEC Colorado Foundation seeks volunteers from consulting engineering firms to share more about what they do in their jobs and what they like about them. The program also includes a hands-on activity and complimentary lunch.
Building, Design & Construction Day at the Capitol

Members of hosting organizations were invited to represent the building, design and construction community of Colorado in conversations with state legislators during a breakfast and networking event. (Attendees were required to identify their home addresses’ state senators and representatives upon completing the complimentary online registration process.). Optional activities at the Capitol after 10 a.m. for those attending included:
– Viewing the Senate or House floor activity from the Gallery (generally these chambers convene at 10 a.m.)
– Attending a Senate or House Committee Hearing. These may meet upon adjournment of their respective chambers, at a time set in the chamber calendar, or as scheduled by the committee chair. Official Calendars
– Taking a free, one-hour guided tours of the state capitol (available on the hour between 10 a.m.-3 p.m. from the Visitor Information Desk; click here to learn more. Tours include a trip to the dome observation area. Self-guided tours are allowed during business hours. Self-guided tours of the dome are not permitted.)

ACEC Colorado members met to network over light appetizers and beverages while meeting with state legislators and aides to discuss issues important to the business of consulting engineering in Colorado. ACEC Colorado’s lobbying team annually invites these state legislators after identifying to them who from their districts will be attending the reception. (Therefore, all attendees are required to identify their home addresses’ state senators and representatives during online registration.) Attendees were also asked to review the live list of the Colorado state bills being tracked by ACEC Colorado.
NOTE: during the Colorado legislative session, every ACEC Colorado Forum meeting will include time on the agenda to discuss bills assigned to it by the ACEC Colorado GA Steering Committee for recommendations. Each forum is represented on the Government Affairs Steering Committee by its committee chair(s). Denver Public School’s Spark Industry Program

Denver Public School’s Spark Industry Program partners with Denver-area businesses to expose middle school students to potential career paths. ACEC Colorado Foundation is hosting the Feb. 20 Spark event as part of Colorado Engineers Week. The program will involve a fun, interactive activity and lunch with the students. NOTE: the venue address will be sent directly to volunteers.
Colorado High School Bridge Building Competition

ACEC Colorado Foundation is a co-sponsor of the competition with National Society of Professional Engineers–Colorado and Bureau of Reclamation. The Foundation will present a check for $500 to the Region 2 winner with the option for the recipient to receive an additional $1,500 contingent upon future enrollment at a university-level, Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology program.
